Beliefs

New Horizon Christian Fellowship has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our desire is to know Christ and be conformed to His image by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are not a denominational church, nor are we opposed to denominations as such, only to their over-emphasis of the doctrinal differences that have led to the division of the Body of Christ (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

We believe the only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ’s (Agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess, and without which we have no right to claim  ourselves Christians (1 John 4:11-20).

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only inerrant, authoritative Word of God (Acts 20:27; 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21). New Horizon Christian Fellowship has chosen the New King James Version of the Bible as its standard.

We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30);

We believe in the deity of Christ (John 10:33);

His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:35);

His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; 7:26);

His miracles (John 2:11);

His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9);

His resurrection (John 11:25; 1 Corinthians 15:4);

His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19);

His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11; and Revelation 19:11).

We believe in the absolute necessity of true repentance and regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature; and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God's grace and through faith and true repentance we are saved (Mark 1:14-15; John 3:16-19; 5:24; Romans 3:23; 5:8-9; Ephesians 2:9-10; Titus 3:5).

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the church: water baptism and the Lord’s supper. We  believe that water baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the triune God just as Jesus was baptized (Matthew 3:6). Baptism is not a requirement for salvation but a public declaration of our acceptance of Jesus the savior, His death and resurrection; and our commitment to a personal relationship with Christ. We believe that the Lord’s supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death and is to be observed in obedience to His proclamation, “This do in remembrance of Me” (Luke 22:19). We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 11:26; Matthew 28:19; Acts 10:47-48; Romans 6:4; Ephesians 2:8-9).

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Galatians 3:26-28).

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit who indwells every believer and enables us to live a godly life (Romans 8:13-14; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19-20; Ephesians 4:30; 5:18).

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they that are saved  unto the resurrection of life, and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation (John 5:28-29, Acts 24:15, Rev. 20:12-15).

We believe that marriage is exclusively the legal union of one man and one woman, that God’s union of one man to one woman was perfect (Gen. 1:27; 2:22-24). We also believe that God’s union of one man to one woman was perfect (Gen. 1:27; 2:22-24). We also believe that legitimate biblical sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage hence sexual activities such as, but not limited to, adultery, fornication, incest, polygamy,  homosexuality, transgender, bisexuality, cross dressing, pedophilia, bestiality, lascivious  behavior, the creation, viewing and/or distribution of pornography and efforts to alter one’s gender are inconsistent with God’s Word. We are not to add to or take away from the Bible (Ex. 20:14; Matt 5:28; 1 Cor. 6:8-10; Eph. 5:3-5; 1 Tim 1:9-11; Heb. 13:4; Revelation 22:18-19).

Every pastor, pastoral assistant, board member, employee, member and volunteer shall be in good standing and affirm his or her unequivocal agreement with this Statement of Faith (Colossians 3:1-17).
